Paul RICOEUR -

This book includes all contributions, comments and most interjections that were raised in the conference “secularism in the Arab Levant” held in Damascus, 17-18 of May 2007, supported and financed by the Danish cultural center, organized and supervised by both Petra and Atlas publishing houses.
Choosing Secularism in the Arab Levant to be the topic of our Conference – among other topics of no less importance - is a trial to develop a reasonable address that goes in parallel, or rather, against the sectarian thoughts that fill our region’s spheres, and played a major role in stirring up sectarian struggles in more than one place and more than once in the region; especially with the recently suffering of the peoples of the region from these conflicts, as well as the threatening of the sectarian dissociation, which may overthrow their entities and security.
