Alerta: greenwashing.

This bilingual book in Portuguese and eMakwa isn’t about princesses, fairies, witches, monsters, talking animals, superheroes or folklore legends. Nor does the story take place in some faraway kingdom or centuries ago. Cora is a child like any other and lives in the real world just like the rest of us. She goes to school, has friends, a family and loves to play. But Cora is left intrigued by what her friend Miriam said: “You’d better wear a headband.” The thread of this story is as wavy has the child’s hair.

Vaso VEKRI
“Back street” is the first book of Vaso Vekri. A crime fiction novel. With heroes like human islands, moving in the transitions of life. The truth is not always what it seems. Or, rather, the truth is before us, but we do not see it. A love story beyond death unfolds in the book.
“They killed him at noon, on the street. They raked him in front of the crowd and nobody knows anything”. A prisoner is murdered during one of his leaves. And his psychiatrist partner starts a journey with the motorbike, so she could see, remember, understand... What can the task assigned to her have to do with the murder? And how clean is the Professor of Psychiatry? How much does the infamous - inside and outside of prison - Black know? In a parallel coming-of-age journey, a young musician, struggling with his personal demons, will come face to face with dangerous secrets.
Chrysoula GEORGOULA
The book “Call me Stratos” is the first novel by Chrysoula Georgoula. Through the actions and memories of the main protagonist, Greece is described during the prosperity of the Olympic Games, but also after the economic crisis. Questions are posed such as: Are violence, discrimination and racism a consequence of the economic crisis or are they components of established social life, who find the opportunity to emerge on the occasion of the situation? Is a reversal of the tide possible, or will our society sooner or later be forced to relive its history?
After his dramatic divorce and at the age of forty-two, Stratos Achtidis returns to his family home to live with his mother and his also divorced brother. Humiliated and cut off from family and friends, he drinks uncontrollably and reminisces about the past: his construction work, his marriage to Sotiria and their children, the carefree years of fake wealth and parties, his extramarital affair and the end of it, the post-Olympic years of unemployment and his alcohol addiction, the privately owned Tsunami car wash and financial ruin, and finally his involvement with the “pure-blooded Greeks”.

Aleksandar PROKOPIEV
Homunkulus: postmodern fairy tales for grownups
Homunculus is billed as a collection of sixteen “fairy tales for adults” with something for every reader. The author has largely retained the classical fairy-tale structure with its elements of surprise and the constant intertwining of the real and unreal, but he transcends the sugar-sweet endings we are familiar with. Prokopiev presents us with a wide range of more “mature” themes too – the erotic, the tragic, feelings of alienation. Some of the stories are related to internationally known fairy tales such as “Tom Thumb”, where the main character struggles with an oedipal bond with his mother, or “The Huntsman”, told from the perspective of the hunter sent out to kill Snow White. Others go back to Macedonian folk roots or have been freely composed by Prokopiev himself.
Aleksandar Prokopiev born on February 24, 1953 in Skopje is a Macedonian Ph. D. in comparative literature and literary theory. He is also notable as a writer, essayist and a former member of the eminent Yugoslav rock band Idoli.
Aleksandar Prokopiev is considered to be one of most acclaimed macedonian writers. He is two time nominated for prestigous literature award Balkanika.
Aleksandar Prokopiev is winner of literature award Balkanika in 2012 for his novel Homunkulus. Aleksandar Prokopiev is winner of Bulgarian literature award Helikon.
Finished postgraduate education in 1982 in Sorbonne, France. His works are translated in English, French, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Slovak and many other languages.

Alto is an independent literary press founded in Québec City in 2005 by Antoine Tanguay. Very active on the international publishing scene, Alto publishes unusual and bold literary fiction from Québec, Canada and abroad. As we try to follow the mantra “Publish less, publish better”, we only publish 10 to 12 books per year.
In our quest to astound and confound, Alto has a new tool at its disposal: a publishing lab we call Alea. A playground for a team bursting with crazy ideas for books, a sort of R&D department even, Alea is to our publishing house what a yard is to a real house: a space where we can run free and also plant beautiful things.

One of the most important writer of the nineteenth century, a mythical figure of American literature, Emily Dickinson remains an enigma to this day. With Les villes de papier, Governor General’s Literary Award-winner Dominique Fortier explores the quiet existence of “the lady in white” from the inside, through the books she loved, her garden, her ghosts. Inspired by episodes of both Emily’s life and her own, the author gives us a novel as limpid as it is earnest about how the worlds we build within ourselves in turn build us.

The objectives of this association were retained throughout the years and Baile del Sol remains true to these to this day. On the one hand, we offer the chance to become published to new authors and, on the other, an increased effort so as local authors from the Canary Islands be considered for themselves and not because of their geographic origins. Our catalogue is additionally open to authors from other backgrounds. America, Oceania, Africa and Europe are all represented. We are, therefore, an open-minded and independent publishing house.

elyzad Publishing was established in Tunis in 2005. In this Mediterranean country, with its rich melting pot of cultures, we have chosen to share a vibrant, modern literature rooted in diversity. Novels and short stories reflect our commitment: providing a platform from the South to the North for remarkable voices, from here and elsewhere, to read the world in its plurality.
Our editorial policy, deliberately uncompromising, was developed in the course of productive meetings with established authors Leïla Sebbar, Maïssa Bey, Colette Fellous, and Théo Ananissoh, who have put their trust in us, and others from Tunis, Algeria, France, which we have discovered and have the pleasure of introducing.
Views of Arab society mingle with nomadic texts redolent of the north seas and southern breezes, the Balkans and Japan… above all, any kind of multifaceted writing that opens the door or offers a passage to new experiences.
In fact, our catalogue includes works co-published with Actes Sud and Zellige in France and Le Fennec in Morocco. It contains thirty titles and a new paperback collection.
Listen here the interview of Élisabeth Daldoul, carried out by the École des métiers de l’information (EMI-CFD), for the Hors Concours prize, October 2019.
Wahiba KHIARI

Il leone verde was founded in Turin in 1997, with the aim of putting out unpublished works, never previously translated into Italian. We always publish top-quality introductions, end matter and commentary in our works, produced by specialists of these topics.
Translations are always produced based on the source language of the texts, and we have opted for scientific rigour in their approach, even though our works target a broad spectrum of the public, rather than specialists.
Stefania CAMPO
This book shows Andrea Camilleri’s gastronomic perspective, expressed through
his most famous character – Montalbano, who is greedy and always starving. This
becomes the occasion to offer a tasty choice of traditional Sicilian dishes, with an
important contribution from Camilleri’s family memories.
In fact, food is often present in his stories, acquiring a strong affective value,
symbolizing maternal love. And this passion is shared by the fictional
superintendent: food is the fundamental object of desire and the most striking
source of pleasure.
The author seems to lead the reader to silently sit and calmly savour these
wonderful dishes.
Stefania Campo is an architect and is specialised in photography and digital
cinema; she works also as a teacher She lives partly in Milan and partly in Ragusa,
where she promotes an association called “Sicilian Movietour”, which offers cultural
and gastronomic routes inspired by literature and cinema.

This book helps new parents in acquiring certainty and confidence while attending to their growing
kids.
As children’s problems are more and more often faced through drugs, the author tries to offer a critical
point of view in considering this kind of solutions, which are frequently source of collateral damages.
So, this work suggest some recipes of home made preparations and foods that can resolve non serious
children’s pathologies.

is now the manager of the operative unit for “Preventive Medicine of Evolutionary Age”.

Sara HONNEGGER
Among the questions and the problems that the birth of a baby arises, certainly there is the aspect of
nutrition and choice of food: in particular, during the first months of a new baby’s life attention to
products becomes fundamental.
This maternal experience can lead to two innovative results: learning an ecological approach to the
world around us and facing an educational path to the appreciation of diversity.
The author confronts the problems of children’s nutrition from this particular point of view: this book
offers recipes, memories, suggestions from mothers of many different cultures, about breast milk,
family meals, first baby food and culinary games.
In conclusion, this is an intercultural reflection about feeding: healthy food for us and Earth balance.
Sara Honnegger published several works about babies’ nutrition and education (for example Piccoli
Golosi), but also about ecological feeding (for example Cucina naturale and La cucina facile ed ecologica). She
collaborates with many magazines as “Donna moderna”, “Star Bene”, “Marie Claire”, "La cucina
naturale“,”D La Repubblica delle Donne“, the Sunday edition of”Il Sole 24 Ore", writing about
natural medicine, female health, natural feeding.

Hedi TIMOUMI

Published in 1903 in Alexandria, this book is a kind of evidence of the accumulation of Arab cultures in cultural life of the region, of the fall of “bourgeoisie” projects of expansion, of the increase in European capitalist hegemony over Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Arab Maghreb as well.

Éditions Tarik, based in Casablanca, Morocco, is headed by Bichr Bennani and Marie-Louise Belarbi, both founder members of Apell (Association for the promotion of book publishing and reading). Since its inception in 1999, this independent publishing firm has been involved in the debates of the modern world. Its objective is to explore the themes of history and current events, of society and memory, without neglecting the literary production of young Moroccan authors, and by giving priority, whenever possible, to co-publishing.
