Aramesh DOSTDAR (born in 1932 in Tehran) is an Iranian philosopher, writer, scholar and a former philosophy lecturer at Tehran University. He moved to Germany in 1958 to study philosophy in University of Bonn. From 1973 to 1980 he taught philosophy in the University of Tehran, until his dissmision during closure of universities by the Islamic government in the so called Cultural Revolution. Wahiba Khiari est née à Alger en 1969. Après des études de langues à l’université de Constantine, elle enseigne l’anglais dans un lycée. Os panos da Índia comprados na Ásia não vestiam apenas as cortesãs européias: eram muito apreciados na África. A prata da América espanhola e o ouro mineiro serviam para comprar estes panos, que posteriormente eram trocados por cativos no continente africano.

Este livro é resultado de uma pesquisa desenvolvida entre 2003 e 2007 no Centro de Pesquisa e Documentação de História Contemporânea do Brasil (CPDOC) da Fundação Getulio Vargas, com o objetivo de formar um banco de entrevistas com lideranças do movimento negro no Brasil a partir das décadas de 1970 e 1980 em todas as regiões do país. Histórias como a da criação do Grupo Palmares, no Rio Grande do Sul, em 1971, a da fundação do primeiro bloco afro na Bahia, o Ilê Aiyê, em 1974, assim como a da formação do Centro de Estudos e Defesa do Negro do Pará, em 1980, por exemplo, estão, pela primeira vez, lado a lado com histórias de organizações criadas no Rio de Janeiro e em São Paulo. Não se trata das primeiras organizações de movimento negro da história do país, como mostram as inúmeras notas e a cronologia que completa o livro, mas daquelas que surgiram em pleno regime militar e se proliferaram a partir do lento processo de Abertura política, e numa conjuntura internacional na qual ganhavam força as lutas pela libertação das colônias portuguesas na África e as repercussões dos movimentos pelos direitos civis nos EUA.
Além da trajetória do movimento e das experiências de algumas de suas principais lideranças, o livro discute temas com grande visibilidade atual, como a implementação de políticas de ação afirmativa, incluindo as cotas nas universidades, o reconhecimento da propriedade de terras de “quilombos” e a participação de militantes em diferentes instâncias do poder público.

Ku Si Mon Editora is a private institution created in Bissau in 1994, following the political liberalization and the beginning of multi-partisanism. Its principal interests are literature (novels, stories, and essays), oral tradition (collections of stories, proverbs, and riddles) and ethno-linguistics (dictionaries). With an artisanal character, it continues thanks to the volunteer work from its members. Overhead costs (facility, electricity, small publishing materials) are also assured by the members, and revenue is used to publish new titles. Sales are limited, taking into account the high rate of illiteracy in Guinea-Bissau, and the publishing house relies on occasional funding to print certain texts.

Founded in 1987 as an Information Centre for Development (CID), it started publishing social science and human science books as Plural Editores in 1992, and as from 1999, it consolidated its position as an independent publishing house.
