Colectivo Semilla is a publishing house based in Bahía Blanca (Argentina) that views publishing as a platform for sharing knowledge. We rely on artisanal approaches to question choices, with the aim of breathing new life into pre-established ways of living. We publish books that create their own modes of perception and weave multiple connections with other aspects of the world. Our editorial focus consists mainly of contemporary Latin American poetry in Spanish: plural and marginal poetics, reimagined uses of language, and aesthetic choices understood in relation to the literary ecosystem. We also publish works of fiction and essays that align with this approach. We operate according to the principles of self-management and collective creation, using language to create shared spaces and foster new emotional connections; this is why, since 2008, we have organised the Fair of Self-Managed Publishers (Feria de Editoriales Autogestionadas).

Desastre Natural Ediciones was founded with the aim of creating projects, primarily graphic works, that explore the complexity of human relationships.
We offer various collections, each focused on a different type of narrative. From our ‘Comic Book Collection’ in the standard 16 x 23 cm format, to our ‘Collection of Artists’ Books and Fanzines’ where each publication is unique, both in terms of content and in its form and production method.
Our main concern is to give a voice to narratives and perspectives that are not yet (and need not be) an integral part of the collective imagination, as well as to stories that foster historical memory, critical thinking and contextualised reflection.

Ediciones del Garaje (EDG) is an SME founded in 2015 as an extension of the main activity of its founder and publisher, Beatriz Zorrón Minhondo, a sworn translator (Udelar). After obtaining a degree in publishing (Claeh University), she launched EDG, initially with a technical focus. A few years later, Paola Focaccio joined the publishing house and initiated a children’s literature project on an experimental basis. The outcome was positive, enabling the team to gain knowledge, strengthen their skills and discover new authors. Subsequently, other genres were added, notably fiction. The authors are Uruguayan, with one exception, and for the most part emerging writers. The few nationally recognised authors are the outcome of the new commercial policies of the major publishing groups. Despite the obvious difficulties, the publishing house is committed to continuous improvement and the expansion of its catalogue.

Chibalete Editores is an independent publishing house based in Bogotá, Colombia, specialising in the publication of cultural, educational and scientific works aimed at readers in Latin America. Our work aims to promote the democratisation of reading and access to knowledge through books and e-books, whilst adhering to rigorous editorial standards and emphasising the social relevance of our work. We publish illustrated books, contemporary stories and hybrid projects combining literature, popular science and new technologies. We believe in bibliodiversity as a living ecosystem that is essential for fostering critical and discerning readers. We work with authors, illustrators and reading facilitators to offer relevant content to diverse communities, including in regions where access to publications is limited. Our catalogue aims to foster linkages between memory, science, art and the local area, with a particular focus on children and the youth. As a publishing house, we encourage partnerships and regional distribution to strengthen creative and reading networks in the Global South.

Pol-len edicions is a Catalan publishing cooperative formed by four people. Founded in 2011, they are dedicated to publishing books of critical thought for transformative action. With a wide range of genres, their themes are feminism, ecology, and Euskal Herria (a country from which they translate very diverse works into Catalan).

But the main characteristic of Pol-len edicions is their work and commitment to eco-edition. This means calculating, minimising and communicating the environmental impact of paper books. This task has been carried out, since 2022, through the Institut de l’ecoedició de Catalunya (www.institutecoedicio.cat).

logoLa Oveja Roja

c/ Amparo 76
28012 Madrid
Spain
www.laovejaroja.es

It was chance combined with great effort that led to the launch of La Oveja Roja. As chance would have it, someone with no plans to work in the publishing industry found themselves in the possession of several previously unpublished books. He founded La Oveja Roja, located, as its name [the red sheep] might suggest, deep in the countryside, in a meadow at the foot of the Pyrenees. The founder was adamant about ensuring that culture was accessible to all children and not only to the upper classes. This sheep insisted on talking about politics and society even though no one had invited him to the table. Notable figures, of course, did not listen. But he continued anyway. From the Pyrenees he went to Madrid, where he found himself becoming a carpenter in order to open a bookshop. From that moment on, he has lived only for his obsessions, which now include storytelling, poetry, graphic novels, essays and even children’s books. His catalogue contains works of a variety of tones. Éric Hazan, Nathalie Quintane, Vincianne Despret, Brigitte Vasallo, Enrique Falcón and Antonio Orihuela are just some of the names who have become friends along the way. And the sheep, with his books, now finds himself surrounded by wooden bookshelves in a bookshop, and continues to think and dream about meadows and about books.
