[Excerpt from the foreword]
At a time when linguistic diversity is receiving unprecedented attention and faces challenges in AI, the IBBY–UNESCO Collection of Remarkable Books for Young Readers in Indigenous and Endangered Languages stands as a testament to the enduring value of languages as living expressions of knowledge, identity and imagination.
This joint initiative reflects the shared commitment of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to place children and young readers at the heart of global efforts to safeguard and promote linguistic diversity.
